Design A Chair

Become A Take A Seat Designer

The IFDA NY Chapter held its 2013 Take A Seat action and gala at Lillian August in NYC.

Rose Hittmeyer is creating a fashion statement here which will become The Green Goddess in 2013.

We rely on furnishing and design industry professionals to create the chairs that we auction for local charities. Design students are also welcome to submit chairs.

Won’t you join us in Take A Seat? Use your design talents to support heroes at home in your local community.

  • You can work alone or as a team of two
  • Your chair can be practical or a work of art to be enjoyed only with the eyes
  • You can go minimal, over the top, or anywhere in between

See what inspired the 2013 and 2014 Take A Seat chair designers in our Designer Folio and Gallery.

Connect With A Local IFDA Chapter

Members of the community came together to help make the San Diego Take a Seat exhibition a great success.

You can contribute a chair to any local IFDA chapter for their Take A Seat exhibition by completing the design application form provided by your chapter. Send your completed application form along with your entry fee to the appropriate local chapter.

Each chapter sets its own guidelines about who can submit chairs and the registration fees for designers. See the individual chapter event pages (under IFDA Chapter Events in the menu) for specific details for each local chapter event. You can also click the links below for each chapter’s registration form.

Don’t live close to an IFDA chapter but you still want to participate? You may still be able to design a chair for a chapter exhibition if you can deliver your chair to the exhibition location by the deadline. Contact the chapter for more information about who can register and how to submit a chair.
